Om de efficaciteit van rasburicase therapie bij hematologiepatiënten te monitoren, worden urinezuurconcentraties bij deze patiënten opgevolgd. Rasburicase breekt urinezuur zowel in vivo als in vitro af. Om de afbraak in vitro enigszins te remmen, kan urinezuur op een aparte serumbuis op ijs afgenomen en opgestuurd worden naar het Klinisch Lab.
